Rules for usage of the WUL's book pick-up machine

Realised as part of the INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WROCŁAW II 2019-2023

The program is realised by the European Union from the European Social Fund under the Operational Program "Knowledge Education Development", Priority Axis No. 3 "Higher Education for Economy and Development", Measure 3.1 "Competences in Higher Education".

The Wroclaw University Library's book pick-up machine is a convenient way to collect ordered books – available 24/7. The device allows to collect materials ordered from the WUL's general storage rooms.

Attention: The book pick-up machine only accepts books from the WUL's collection. It does not accept returns or fulfill orders from UoW's departmental libraries or other libraries in Wroclaw. The book pick-up machine also does not process returns or orders for books from digitized catalogs.

Where is the book pick-up machine located?

The book pick-up machine is located inside the WUL's building, near the employees' entrance (from the fountain side). To enter the room, you must verify your library account by scanning your card using the reader.

To verify your library account you can use:

  • physical library card without a photo,

  • student or employee ID (after generating a barcode from Primo BUWr - "Show card" tab in the upper right corner after logging in to your account).

After successful verification, a security guard will grant you access to the room with the book pick-up machine and library drop box. Upon entering the Library building, you must present your library card/student's/employee's ID upon request, so please bring it with you.

How to collect books from the book pick-up machine?

To use the book pick-up machine, you must authorize yourself using a valid library card, student's ID, or employee's ID. Authorization involves entering your library card number and PIN code on the device.

How to generate PIN code?

PIN code could be generated in two ways:

  1. By yourself in PRIMO catalog

    1. Log in to your library account in the PRIMO catalog:

    2. Go to the tab Library card.

    3. Select Personal details.

    4. On the right side, use the option Update login credentials/PIN code.

  2. In the Local Lending Department
A librarian can generate a PIN code. It will be sent to the email address provided by the user.

After authorization

After entering the card number and PIN code correctly, a list of available lockers will appear on the screen.

  • Select the highlighted locker – if the books are in multiple lockers, several of them will be displayed.

  • The locker will open automatically.

When the locker is opened, the system will automatically register borrowed books in the user's library account.

The user will then receive an e-mail confirming the lending and informing them about the return date.

Dates and limits of lending

The deadlines and limits for lending materials collected from the book pick-up machine are identical to those for borrowing materials from the WUL's Local Lending Department and are in accordance with the Rules of Collection Circulation in the Wroclaw University Library.

When locker may fail to open?

If:

  • the account is inactive or blocked,

  • there are outstanding financial obligations towards the Library,

  • the account validity ends before the planned return date,

  • the lending limit has been exceeded.

Collection date

Books must be picked up within 5 calendar days of receiving the email notification. After this time, the order will be canceled.

Order fulfillment

Orders for the book pick-up machine are processed during Library opening hours. If there are no available lockers in the pick-up machine, the order will be available for collecting in the Local Lending Department – information will be sent via email.
