Informatory is a part of the Scientific Information Department and is situated on the level 1 in the Wroclaw University Library's building on the Fryderyka Joliot-Curie 12 St.

Collection

Reference collection of the Informatory consists of fundamental and valuable information publications, such as: bibliographies and catalogs, encyclopedias, both universal and specialist, dictionaries: encyclopedic, terminological, language, geographical, guides to libraries, archives, museums and scientific institutions. Monographs mostly occur in history, literature and science knowledge divisions.

Reference collection is divided into 27 main divisions mirroring structure of subject catalog of the Library.

Selection of materials to reference collection is based on needs of users and employees of the Library. Employees of Scientific Information Department use reference collection while performing factographical and bibliographical searches and during fulfillment of queries.


Catalogs

Information about reference collection of the Informatory there is, in the most part, available in the WUL's OPAC and is supplemented successively with more items for their completeness.

The Informatory also has its own traditional catalogs:

  • alphabetical catalog

  • subject catalog

  • topographic catalog

  • paper register


Conditions of usage

In the Informatory there are 76 reading seats and 7 computer stations that are available for users.

Two computer workstations are designed for users with impaired vision and hearing.

One computer workstation is designed for users of wheelchairs.

Before starting their work, users have to sign in guest book and show library card to librarian.

Using of the Informatory's reference collection is done on the principle of free access to the shelves. After using the materials, they should be given back to the librarian on duty.

Computer stations serve for access to electronic information sources needed for study and research.

For employees and students of the University of Wrocław access to electronic databases is free of charge.

Any fees associated with the users service, including fees for printing, are collected at the Library's Information Point, according to the current price list.
