Conservation of the music prints from the 17th century from the Music Collection Department

Conservation and re-conservation of the six voice books from the 17th century written by Samuele Scheidt - Cantiones sacrae, has been completed. This item is present in the WUL’s collections thanks to the merger of the volumes from two collections: from Mary Magdalene’s and St. Bernardine’s churches libraries in Wroclaw. Bassus, VIII and fragment of the voice underwent conservation in the 80s of the twentieth century. Voices: Cantus, V and VII, although damaged, survived to our times without need for conservation. In order to unify conservation treatment and bindings it was decided to re-conserve voices B. VIII. and preserved fragment, and bindings – half-parchment with painted paper veneer was decorated with blind embossing - stylized according to their provenance. For fragment of the voice stylized briefcase was created.
