Completion of conservation works on Liber chronicarum by Hartmann Schedl from the Old Prints Department’s collection of incunabula

In December 2014 the conservation of color version of the Liber chronicarum, germanice a Georgio Alt by Hartmann Schedl was finished, that has been lasted two years. This codex, typographic work of Antonius Koberger from Nürnberg (1493.) was part of the Prince George Rudolf from Legnica’s collection. Intensive usage for several centuries of this incunabula caused severe mechanical damage to the pages and even to the loss of some of them (6 pages are missing). Also massive, leather and forged binding was damaged. Careful conservation and restoration of the block and binding (M. Kruk) allow for digitization and exhibition of this beautiful Codex as well.
