Reprographic services


Orders for reprographic services are processed by the Reprographic and Digitization Unit of the Wroclaw University Library. Orders can be submitted electronically via form on WUL's webpage, and also on paper order forms available in all WUL's reading rooms.
Orders can also be sent by:

  • e-mail - bu[w]uwr.edu.pl or oin.bu[w]uwr.edu.pl
  • or by traditional mail to the WUL's address - Fryderyka Joliot-Curie 12 St., 50-383 Wroclaw.

Payments related to the execution of the order are settled according to price list.

Attention: digitization of library materials in the University Library is only possible from collections free from copyright restrictions (located in the public domain).
All of the WUL's special collections are under conservation protection. Some items, due to their state of preservation, may be excluded from the digitization process.

Description of services:

  1. Scanning from original materials – No. 1 in price list
  2. Skanowanie z mikroform – pkt. 2-4 price list
    Service includes the creation of images in the form of color graphic files (24 bit) with a maximum format of A-1 (841x594 mm), for objects up to 20 cm thick. Scanning is performed using specialized art scanners, standardly at a resolution of 600 PPI.
  3. Digitization on demand – No. 5 in price list
    The entire item is digitized. If ordered materials are within an introligatory block (i.e. it is bound in one volume with the other), then whole block is digitized. Created files remain the property of Library and will be placed in the Digital Library of Wroclaw University and user receives copy in form of high quality files *.
  4. Digital file made with digital camera – Nos. 6-9 in price list
    Service applies to objects or their elements (e.g. large-format objects above A1, watermarks, gilded miniatures, bindings) that cannot be digitized on art scanners. In such cases, a digital camera is used.
  5. Copying files – Nos. 10-11 in price list
    Service involves making high-quality copies of files* stored in the WUL's digital archives.
  6. Files requiring additional processing – No. 12 in price list
    At the user's request, additional file processing is possible, e.g. OCR, combining scans, making corrections.
  7. Important – use of digital reproductions in publications
    WUL does not grant licences for the use of its digital reproductions in educational, scholarly or academic publications and does not charge separate fees for such use. WUL assumes no responsibility for any further use of the materials provided. When publishing reproduced materials, please indicate the orginal's holding institution.

    Example of a source description:
    "Wrocław University Library (WUL), [collection/department], [call number], [title/author], digital reproduction, [link if applicable], accessed [date]."

* High-quality files (primary or master) – in the WUL's digital archive, these are JPG or TIF files directly from scanners or files created by processing the content of one or more source files, whose quality is comparable to the source files. An example would be a digital copy created by combining multiple shots of a given object into a single image.
