Content and descriptions: Web of Science (WoS) consists of abstract/bibliometric databases (citation indices), that are published by Thomson Reuters company (formerly: Institute for Scientific Information).

Database is available to all institutions of higher education and scientific institutions in Poland on the basis of the decision to finance the national academic license by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education).
It contains assessment of bibliometric citations for scientific journals.

It consists of indices:
- Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE),
- Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI),
- Art & Humanities Citation Index (AHCI),
- Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI)

SCIE, SSCI and AHCI are known as: Web of Science (WoS)
In WoS’ databases are indexed articles from over 12.000 current periodicals.

Part of Web of Science is also bibliometric database:
Journal Citation Reports (JCR) - database created in Institute for Scientific Information ISI – presently part of Thomson Reuters (Philadelphia, USA) company

JCR contains bibliometric assessment of scientific periodicals’ citing and also provides Impact Factor - average number of citations per one article from the periodical over the past two years.

Access to database is possible from every workstation in UoW network as well as via proxy server.
